What is a rooflight?
A rooflight is a fantastic way of letting in natural light into your home. Our rooflights and roof lanterns can be incorparated into a new build or an existing extension of a house. They give the feeling of light & space and can completly transform a room.
Rooflights have many names. They can be called roof lanterns, skylights, roof windows, mini lantern, clerestory, lay lights, hipped edwardians etc.
Rooflights and Roof Lanterns:
All our rooflights and roof lanterns are manufactured by us at our factory and distribution area in Lancashire. Once assembled on our factory floor, to your exact specification, we check it, disassemble it, label it and package it and store it in our distribution area. When all your order has been completed we will contact you with your delivery details.
Assembly:
Once your rooflight or roof lantern has been delivered you will need to self assemble it yourself or use the services of an installer. To find an installer in your area please click here.
Bars:
All our rooflights are made from the same materials. All the bars are made from robust but light weight aluminium. This is then cladded over by using a PVCu capping. On our coloured rooflights we use a foiled aluminium capping which has the look and appearance of real wood but without the need for you to paint or treat it. By using aluminium cappings to the external of the rooflight this reduces the chance of the rooflight warping in the heat of the sun.

Roof Glass:
The glass used on our rooflights and roof lanterns is pilkington self cleaning activ blue plus. All of these glass units contain argon glass which reduces the u value down to an amazing 1.1 U-Value that ensures heat is retained in the winter months. The glass also has a solar control, low e glass to the inner pane of the 24mm glass unit.
Pilkington activ blue plus is the new revolutionary dual coated roof glass. It combines self cleaning properties with solar control performance for a cooler internal environment. The self cleaning properties use daylight and rainwater to breakdown and wash away dirt and grime making it ideal for hard to reach places that are difficult to clean. With a subtle blue tint Pilkington active blue plus allows sufficient light to pass through whilst reducing the suns glare. Also, because there are no detergents needed to clean the glass this is also great news for the environment.

Polycarbonate:
Polycarbonate is a cheaper option to glass with slightly higher U-values. We offer this range for people on a tighter budget. We manufacturer our rooflights with the option of different colours of polycarbonate. Colours range from Clear to Athermic Blue.

Frames:
A frame isn’t needed on our rooflight range but is obviously a necessity when you order one of our roof lanterns. We use 70mm thick, fully reinforced PVCu window frames which then sit on a 150mm welded cill. The frame height is 400mm tall which also includes the height of the cill. All of our frames are internally beaded for security purposes.

Frame glass:
The glass used in the side frames of our roof lanterns is a little bit different to the glass used on the roof. For the side frames we use pilkington clear toughened low e. These glass units are 28mm thick.
